Joshua Long is the Executive Director of the Hammond Education Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to advancing educational excellence within the city of Hammond, IN. He has been successful in increasing fundraising dollars and the financial stability of the programs HEF oversees. He graduated from Purdue in 2012 with a B.S. in Economics from the Krannert School of Management. While there, he was a member of the Student Orientation Committee, interned at the John Purdue Club, was the Elections Director for Student Government, and served on the board for Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership – Indiana. After Purdue, Josh spent two years with Teach For America in Chicago as a Special Education Teacher, Case Manager, and Head Baseball Coach at a Gary Comer College Prep on the south side. Additionally, Joshua was in the inaugural Maymester cohort, took two additional classes, and was on the planning committee with the Purdue Institute for Civic Communication. He cites his time with PICC as a catalyst in his emerging passion for education, youth development, and politics while honing the necessary skills to run a successful non-profit.
